The Thief

A thief in the night I am

Just a patient observer if you will

Watching the barefoot princess

Looking at the moon reflect in her eyes

Taking note of the jokers

The ones who seek to capture her heart’s eye

They don’t seek to satisfy

But use her to quench their own selfish wants

When can I save her from them?

From their gnashing teeth and alluring lies?

Their facades are attractive

And their promises swoon her fragile heart

My Love, will you start to see?

I cannot wait here much longer watching

My heart cannot take the pain

The pain of watching you throw it all down

The jokers will always come

Perhaps I will always be here waiting

Observing your soft footsteps

And musing on you, beautiful princess
